Sharpening Stone Flattening/Conditioning - Diamond plates and/or synthetic stone are used to flatten synthetic stones. Natural stones are finished with natural naguras to smooth and condition the work surface. All surface edges are also chamfered. All toxic lines and inclusions will be left untreated. This pricing guide is simply a general guide of services I provide and it displays the current available options at the relative price point. I understand you may require services above and beyond the package descriptions and I can custom tailor services for you. Whatever it is you may need including special requests, I will find a level of service to fit your budget and timeframe.

Please be aware that some knives are made to be replaced. I reserve the right to refuse any knife for any reason. Factory finishes may be altered. I do my best to preserve knives and match the finish to the original, or create a new uniform pattern.

KNIFE STRAIGHTENING

A bent or twisted knife can not be properly sharpened or polished to achieve the best appearance or aesthetics. Also, the blade performance may suffer. (NOTE: some brands and steel types cannot be repaired)

DOUBLE BEVEL SERVICES

Prices are set for knives that are NOT high-speed tool steel or powdered metal. Prices will be adjusted for highly wear-resistant steels. Please call or email for a quote or any questions you may have. Ceramic knife price is approximately $1/cm (NOTE: not all stainless or powdered-metal steels accept natural stone finishes. May need to substitute synthetic stone for natural stone)

Thinning - Thinning a blade can restore a knife's geometry and improve performance. Price is dependent on design and length.

Chip Repair - Price is dependent on knife length and severity of damage. Please attach a photo of the knife for exact price. (NOTE: Not all damaged pieces may be restored) Chip repair services for double bevel knives $12+

Basic Sharpening - Set a fresh bevel and de-burr. Most edges are finished on synthetic stones at 600 grit or higher depending on knife steel and purpose. Basic Sharpening offers medium level finish depending on your need (Note: the bolster will be left untouched/unfinished) $12+

Basic Sharpening Tier 2 - Includes Basic Sharpening plus bolster shaping $16+

Advanced Sharpening - Includes bolster shaping. Edge is finished on fine synthetic stone. Natural-stone edges also available. $20+

Advanced Sharpening Tier 2 - (Japanese knives) Includes optional patina removal. Re-establish shinogi line. Finish both sides of the blade with synthetic stones. Optional natural-stone cutting edge $35+

Advanced Sharpening Tier 3 - (Japanese knives) Includes Re-establish shinogi line. Refinish both sides of the blade and patina removal. Finish with a full natural-stone progression. Natural-stone hand polish both back and above shinogi line $75+

SINGLE BEVEL SERVICES

Prices are set for knives that are NOT high-speed tool steel or powdered metal. Prices will be adjusted for highly wear-resistant steels. Uraoshi (back side) polishing is included in all advanced sharpening. Any ura in need of extensive repair work will be assessed and reviewed. Please call or email for quote or any questions you may have. (NOTE: not all stainless or powdered-metal steels accept natural stone finishes. May need to substitute synthetic stone for natural stone)

SERRATED KNIVES

Most serrated knives can be sharpened like new. There are a few styles and designs however, that can not be restored. Please feel free to ask any questions. 2-day minimum for serrated knives. $20+

HUNTING/POCKET KNIVES

Most hunting and pocket knives can be sharpened/repaired including serrated blades. Prices are set for knives that are NOT high-speed tool steel or powdered metal. Prices may be adjusted for highly wear-resistant steels.
